FALLBROOK - A luncheon was held recently at Fallbrook VFW Post 1924 to honor students who had written patriotic
essays.
Patriot’s Pen is an essay contest at the middle school level and the theme this year was "Are
You Proud of Your Country?" First place winner was Evan McGeachy, second place was Colleen Goff, and third place was
Nate Franks.
This year’s Voice of Democracy theme for students in grades 9 through 12 was "Is There
Pride in Serving in Our Military?" An oral presentation was required along with a written essay. First place ($500) winner
was Carolyn Honeycutt; second place ($300) winner was Talia DeFalco; and third place ($200) winner was Malary Greenwood.
The VFW congratulated all the students and thanked the participating Fallbrook teachers and judges.
